We get requests for custom embroidered Patagonia products on a regular basis. Unfortunately, we are no longer able to fulfill those requests. You do have options though!
Patagonia Policy Change Discourages Any Decoration
Patagonia is a hugely popular brand with a loyal outdoor community following. Previously they offered select companies the ability to distribute and decorate their most popular items. We used to offer their items. Our Patagonia store offered a variety of options and it was a popular choice for many of our corporate clients.
Recently, Patagonia changed its policy and specifically discourages adding embroidered logos to their gear. This change does seem to be in keeping with the Patagonia mission, values, and identity as an outdoor company wanting to support a healthy planet. So we understand their position.
Below is an excerpt from their blog: Beyond the Office, Out of the Landfill
“What we’ve learned is that adding an additional non-removable logo reduces the life span of a garment, often by a lot, for trivial reasons. Perfectly good gear ends up forgotten in the closet—or worse, gets tossed in the trash.
In 2018 alone, 11.3 million tons of textiles ended up in landfills, and we’re not okay being a part of that. Knowing how deeply you care about your colleagues, family and fellow humans, we don’t think you are either.”
As a wholesale purchaser, I’m In Stitches is allowed to purchase bulk items of Patagonia products from our distributor. However, this requires a signed contract stating we will not “decorate” the apparel being purchased.
We respect and can appreciate the decision Patagonia has made. We will not embroider Patagonia products, even if they are purchased and brought to us by the client. (We do not work on any customer-supplied items)
